Big Data Solutions, Wearable App, Client Dashboard released at GBTA July 26, 2015 Chantel Windeshausen Share this Article Facebook Twitter Email LinkedIn Google+ Travel and Transport has announced today that they will be launching their Big Data solution in 4th quarter 2015. This announcement came at a press conference held during the 2015 Global Business Travel Association Convention in Orlando, Florida. Travel and Transport’s Big Data solution will reduce the need for expensive technology development and increase the speed to market for future enhancements at a highly competitive market value. “Travel and Transport is creating a new business tool that aggregates expense data and card data with back-office data, then fuses financial data, world health data, fuel price data, airline on-time data, world weather data, hotel rate projections and more, to produce visualizations and predictive metrics that will give travel managers better decision making ability. We have found that even social media data can be added to travel data to understand traveler behaviors and potentially increase traveler satisfaction,” said Mike Kubasik, Travel and Transport Executive Vice President and CIO. Travel and Transport’s Big Data offering is one that the organization has had on their strategic road map for quite some time. To put the development in motion, the company garnered the expertise of industry leader Brian Beard, General Manager, Strategic Initiatives with Travel and Transport to lead the development of this technology. “This is an exciting time for companies as now, more than ever, they can see a true picture of the company spend,” said Beard. Travel and Transport has made a significant investment in developing this solution that offers a streamlined and systematic approach so companies can have access to a data solutions tool that can effectively change the way a business runs. “Travel and Transport foresees this offering having a significant impact on the industry that will in turn drive the need for our company to create a separate business line that will focus solely on Big Data offerings,” added Kubasik. The organization is currently working with a select group of clients during development stages and through testing of the solution, can estimate that by using Big Data an average travel program can reduce costs by 5% to 10% in the first 24 months. “Through the research we have done with our clients, we can also estimate that 2% to 4% of cost savings will come from better-negotiated rates and 2% to 5% will come from the identification and correction of travel policy adjustments and adherence,” Beard stated. Other areas of savings that the company has discovered come from better transparency and dissemination of travel spend metrics and savings by strategically shifting share between suppliers. A leading retail organization and long term Travel and Transport client has been part of the development of their Big Data solution and has seen impressive results. “Combining expense and booking data into one database is a very exciting development for customers! This technology will allow us to truly drive travel behaviors unlike ever before which will help lower our costs, help in RFP negotiations, and also allow us to drive more travelers to the program which will improve duty of care.” In addition to the Big Data launch at GBTA, Travel and Transport is releasing their Dash Mobile app for the Apple and Android wearable devices. The app is fully functioning in the Apple and Android markets and will go through a public release in 4th quarter 2015. Travel and Transport is also in research and development for an enhanced client dashboard that integrates all Travel and Transport technology and services into one location. A preview of the new dashboard will be released during the GBTA convention at booth #807 where visitors can experience a hands-on demo of the updated dashboard as well as view their Big Data solution.
