Travel and Transport Announces Launch of Big Data Company

July 17, 2016 Chantel Windeshausen

Travel and Transport, Inc. announced today that they have officially launched a big data solution company known as Data Visualization Intelligence, Inc. (DVI). The company will be run and held as a separate, wholly-owned subsidiary corporation of Travel and Transport. This announcement came at a press conference held during the 2016 Global Business Travel Association Convention in Denver, Colorado.

The company’s initial product offering will be known as DVI Vantage Point, a data aggregation and visualization tool targeted at corporate travel programs. DVI Vantage Point is a suite of visualization screens that graphically displays all aspects of a corporate travel program. “Corporate travel managers can lack visibility into the whole picture of travel activity and spend. For some time, the market has been voicing the need to have a single point of entry with a configurable user interface that provides access to dynamic content and travel tools. By having a separate company that focuses on the visualization and aggregation of data, we can offer a deeper analysis of data in a simple user interface,” stated Mike Kubasik, Executive Vice President and CIO, Travel and Transport.

Behind the visualization engine is a powerful data management system that aggregates unstructured, raw data from multiple systems into a proprietary database engine, housed on a Microsoft SQL server platform. Partnering with Information Builders for data quality management and visual interfaces, this big data platform consolidates and categorizes the data to visually analyze complex data sets and generate sophisticated data to help identify insights that may otherwise go undetected in traditional reports. “We have built a solution that is quite unique to our industry. We now have a product offering that is highly intuitive and creates full visibility and transparency for travel programs and can fit within the budget of small, medium or large programs,” commented Brian Beard, General Manager, Strategic Initiatives and Data Visualization Intelligence, Inc.

DVI Vantage Point can work with most back office and expense systems. It has been designed to aggregate global data and will be available in multiple languages. “The real power of DVI Vantage Point is the ability to quickly integrate data from both industry and non-industry sources. It is truly based on big data principles,” stated Beard. DVI Vantage Point is a cloud based solution that works on mobile devices as well as traditional internet browsers and does not require costly infrastructure setup.

Beyond DVI Vantage Point that is specifically targeted at corporate travel programs, the company has already started development on solutions for other industries that find data aggregation and visualization to be imperative to their business. DVI is currently working with a select group of Travel and Transport clients and has plans to start selling DVI Vantage Point by 4th quarter 2016.

In addition to the announcement of Data Visualization Intelligence Inc., Travel and Transport is announcing updates to their Dash Mobile app. Updates that users will see include a new, more modern interface, enhanced traveler push notifications, access to book a trip and improved travel news and alerts.

Travel and Transport is also showcasing their recently released Dash Portal aimed to further personalize the traveler and travel manager experience. Dash Portal provides travelers with access to tools such as trip details, unused tickets report, travel news and alerts. Dash Portal also gives travel managers visibility to travel policies, reporting access and the ability to communicate important travel program news and information directly to their travelers. Global capabilities will soon be offered within Dash Portal that include multiple language options as well as local content such as news, online booking tools and a traveler map locator. Scheduled release of global capabilities is 4th quarter 2016.

Dash Portal and Dash Mobile will be showcased at Travel and Transport’s booth #2012 during the 2016 GBTA Convention.
