Coming home from Italy - stories from the travel front line

March 18, 2020 Mark Dauner

We hope that this series of stories will bring you some comfort during these difficult times. This story comes from a Travel and Transport customer, who called his travel advisor team for help in getting his daughter home during the widespread COVID-19 crisis in Italy.

"My 23-year-old daughter has been in northern Italy since October and last Saturday morning decided (finally) it was time to return home. My wife and I immediately began attempting to schedule her trip home and had no luck finding flights out of Italy. "

"I contacted Travel and Transport and Katie picked up. I explained that my daughter had just spoken to the Consulate in Florence and she was told if you have a valid passport, and you are a U.S. citizen, you can travel back to the U.S.  Katie was fantastic. She went to work attempting to find flights and ran into obstacle after obstacle, but persevered.  After what was I think nearly an hour Katie had cobbled together an itinerary that will get my daughter home in the evening on 3/18/20."

"Thank you for helping us during this time!"
